Hell was let loose on social network, Twitter during the week when a 14 year old kid took on Peter Okoye of the P-Square fame, lecturing him on the rules of grammar.

Peter innocently took to Twitter to announce the lucky winner of the P-Suqare’s Fan of The Month give-away prize.

A Lagos court has dissolved the marriage between a couple after the wife cut off her husband’s p*nis with a knife.

The 28-year old woman, Janet Uduak was dragged to a customary court in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria by her husband, Kolawole Richard, for using a kitchen knife to slice his penis when he attempted to have sex with her.

Janet, mother of a kid, allegedly carried out the act because her husband demanded for sex from her against her wish.

Richard was seriously injured and as a result, he cannot have erection again.

The incident happened at 19, Jagun street, Okokomaiko, on the outskirts of Lagos.

After the incident, he dragged his wife to Ijanikin customary court for the dissolution of the marriage.

Richard asked the court to dissolve the marriage because Janet was violent and she does not perform her matrimonial obligation including allowing him to have sex with her.

He explained to the court that he went to her village in Akwa IbomState and paid N50,000 dowry before marrying her, yet whenever he wanted to sleep with her, there was always trouble in the bedroom.

Richard, who is from Ondo state and a teacher, told the court that because of her behaviour, he was no longer in love with her.

He tendered a photograph of his severed penis before the court.

He also asked the court to grant him the custody of their only daughter.

Reacting, the remorseful woman pleaded to him to forgive her, promising that she will fulfil her obligation as his wife including allowing him to have sex any time he wanted.

But Richard insisted that the marriage should be dissolved.

The President of the court, Mr. S. K. Hussain noted that the relationship has completely broken down.

He consequently dissolved the marriage and ordered Richard to pay Janet N26,000 as alimony.

Life as an only child

When I was growing up,life was fun. But at a point in my life, I discovered that it was not all that exciting. It was worse when my parents died, leaving only me behind. I felt empty. If I had siblings, I would argue and play with them. But when I lost my parents, and as an only child, I began to see the other side of life. That was when I discovered those who truly loved me. I miss my parents and those who would have been my siblings. My dad diedin 2007. I’m trying to dosomething about my parents’ burial. I just lost my mother late last year. I want to perform the final burial rites for both of them soon. I’m their only child. Now I’man orphan. I leave everything to God.

That is why I’m celebrating their lives. People think I would have limitations since I was an only child.I want to prove them wrong. I also want to tell them that being a woman does not undermine my capabilities. I’m inviting top musicians to the burial. My colleagues in the movie industry will also be there, even those living abroad.

My new movie

I have a new movie entitled, Kofo Tinubu . I had to do something about the physically-challenged people. They have been totally left out of the society. Some parents don’t even want to be identified with their kids who are physically-challenged and so they lock them indoors. Every child is from God. If a child is an imbecile or he is deaf and dumb, it doesn’t mean that he will not make it in life. We all have our challenges. It mustn’t be physical.

Some of us have worse challenges. So, we shouldn’t feel that physically-challenged people should be removed from the society. That is basically what the story line is all about. I played the role of the physically challenged. It was very tasking. Many actors appeared in the movie, including Olumide Bakare, Baba Latin and Elesho. The movie is a comedy, but it has a message. This is my fifth movie. I produce one movie in a year. I love doing stories that have messages.

Coping with challenges in Nollywood

I have never relented, not even once. I believe so much in myself. I do a lot of things and I always make sure that I am successful in everything I do. Some people know me as an actress and others know me as an interior decorator or wine seller.But whatever I do, I always put in my best. I know some scandals have been associated with me. Because of what people have written about me, some people don’t even know that I am a very cool-headed person.

My assets

If you say that I’m one of the rich Yoruba actresses in the movie industry, I can only thank God for it. I’m not doing anything illegal. I don’t go out of my way to make money through immoral means. But as I told you, acting is not the only thing I do. I import wines and I’m a decorator. I supply stuff.This should make me comfortable. Apart from film acting, I run six businesses. You should understand that one can do better in the movie industry only when one has some money. It is not all about moving from one film location to another. I started doing business when I was very little. My mum used to tell me to work hard, as if she knew she was going to die. She always encouraged me to do something worthwhile. I’m from Badagry and you know my people love to do business. My business can never clash with my acting career. I make hay while the sun shines. Everything is about time and how you manage it. When I get married, I may not have the time to run around. So I want to use this time and run around and do the things I know that I will not be able to do when I start a family.

Cliques

How can I belong to a clique and bear funny names? The last time I heard of a group with a funny name was when I was still in the university.

There, some girls were calling themselves members of the Black Bra . Now you are saying that there is a group of ladies in the movie industry known as Pink Ladies , I have never heard of the group and I am not a part of it. I don’t belong to any clique or caucus, except the Association of Theatre Arts Practitioners. That the clique I belong. Whatever you are will sell you to the world. You cannot be like me and I cannot be like you.It is all about destiny. I always do my best for myself and for my fans. I don’t smoke and I don’t drink, but you need to see the way I smoke cigarette in the movies. People believe I am a bad girl. I am not one at all. You can see my daughter. I take care of my family. And I train them well.

My relationship with Iyabo Ojo

I don’t want to talk about Iyabo Ojo. That matter is stale and this is 2012. If you ever catch me talking about her, do what you like to me. How could I have fought her over a man? It was the same old ‘aunty’ issue that caused the problem between both of us. She said I should be calling her ‘Aunty’ and I refused. I’m older than some people in the movie industry, but I don’t think I ought to fight them because they don’t call me ‘aunty.’ This thing happened a few years ago. She is not my friend, I don’t know her, and we don’t talk to each other. One late producer casted both of us in a movie before he died. She was busy abusing me. I didn’t even say a word. If I had said something, it would have turned to another thing. The only person I can fight is somebody who wants to stop me from doing my business or acting. How can I fight with somebody who cannot feed or clothe me? She is not an issue. I want to perform my parents’ final burial rites and not talk about nonentities.

Awards

I only have to thank God for them. I started winning awards when I was still in the university. I was the best actress of the year at the Top Celebrity Awards event.

Relationships

I will let you know when I’m getting married. Do you want me to tell you so that you will tell the whole world? Do you want me to tell you that I’m a virgin? There is a man in my life, but I don’t want to talk about him. The father of my daughter is dead. So, I will get married one day.

Future aspirations

I will leave that to God. But I’m hoping for good. You know what I can do. I know everything will be great and will unfold in God’s time.

APOSTLES ALFRED KODUAH DISAGREE WITH PASTOR CHRIS ENDORSEMENT MASTURBATION...

The General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alfred Koduah, disagree with pastor Chris Endorsement of Masturbation, saying it's a Sin against God.

It would be recalled that the pastor of Christ Embassy, Chris Oyakhilome said that masturbation is a normal habit that is not a sin against God.

Lets recall what Pastor Chris said...

“The reason you want to stop this is because of what you think it is.

“If you were in the habit of playing football, you probably would not ask ‘how can I stop playing football? But because you think there is something wrong with this, that is where your problem is coming from. But no matter how wrong it is in your mind, get this straight: (masturbation) in itself, it is not a sin against God.

“There are many Christians who think it is a sin against God and Satan uses this against them, oppressing their minds and making them feel ineffective and inefficient in the things of God. But when you get to understand that it has nothing to do with God and that is all about you and your own body, then Satan loses his power to use it to accuse you. So if you don’t like it, stop it but God has got nothing to do with it. It is your own body, masturbation is about your body and God is not offended by it.”

“He is only offended by any habit that takes a hold of your mind and if this takes a hold of your mind and dominates you then, God is offended by the fact that it takes a hold of your mind,” Pastor Chris explained

But speaking in an interview , Apostle Koduah disagreed with pastor Chris oyakhilome saying masturbation is part of the immorality that the Bible speaks about and for that reason, God is against it.

According to him, masturbation is a practice of sexual self-pleasuring; adding the only sexual act God allows is that of sex in marriage which often leads to the bearing of children and gratification on the part of both couples.

“Any act of sexual-gratification done outside the context of marriage is wrong,” he added.

Quoting from the Gospel according to Matthew the Chapter 5 and the 28 verse to buttress his point, the Chief Scribe of the Church of Pentecost said “anybody who looks at a woman or man lustfully, wishing to have her has already committed fornication or adultery with her in his his heart.

further speaking, he said: “masturbation, is a sexual fantasy; fornicating with the mind… In the days gone by, when you are a man and your brother’s wife died without any children,you can fulfill your duty as brother-in-law to the woman by marrying her and naming any offspring after him (the deceased) to preserve the family line. in Genesis Chapter 38 is an example of this....Onan

With Onan, when he married his brother wife (after the brother Er, died), he disregarded this principle when he withdrew before climax anytime he was having sex with her and spilling his seed on the round. But the wrath of God came on him and he was killed so that tells us that anybody who toes that line will incur the wrath of God.

This is also to tell us that masturbation does not glorify God.

So if my colleague pastor is saying this, I don’t agree with him and I think he should go back and read his Bible carefully….,” Apostle Koduah said.

According to him, addiction to masturbation has several effects which include psychological and physiological problems and the possibility of long terms effects after one is married, he therefore urged all who indulge in the practice to repent and pray for God to have mercy on them.

Entertainmentgistme.com report to you this bizarre news of a 22-year lady, Chinyere Alegu , who dragged her cousin’s daughter, Chioma Edukwu, 5, to a nearby bush, inserted her fingers in her mouth and pulled out her tongue, saying she was instructed by the Holyspirit.

The incident took place at Ndi Duma Ekpaomaka village, in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The suspect Chinyere narrating her ordeal to crime watch said-

“ I am a hair dresser by profession. I love to evangelise and attend churches and where they hold rallies and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I was sleeping when theHoly Spirit instructed me to go and pull out an object from an elderly woman’s mouth. I dreamt again before I took Chioma to the bush for prayer and while there, I used my hands to remove her tongue.

“Having realised what I did, I raised the alarm and appealed to people to come and help me revive her. I used my right hand to remove her tongue. Sometimes, Holy Spirit visit me. I canpray in the house for three to four hours. I don’t know what to say but to beg my cousin to forgive me,” she lamented.

The deceased’s father told the reporter that he was surprised that Chinyere killed his daughter. “She came to me to request that my daughter stayed with her. Two days later, information got to us that Chioma, my first daughter, was found dead in the bush. I saw my daughter’s tongue on the ground and was later told that Chinyere removed it. I want law to take its course, I want justice to be done.I don’t know what came over her.

I know her to be a Christian, a prayer warrior,” the grieving father said.

The Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeola Adeniji, said the suspect had been arrested and would be tried for murder. He said: “We didn’t see any object on her apart from the Bible.”

It was 8 o’clock that morning and I was already dressed in my black dress, black shoes and no make-up, with my brushed hair in a pony tail. I was heading to Yaba for a friend’s funeral.
She was 35 and beautiful, a mother of two beautiful children.

Ireally did not want to go because I was not sure of how I was goingto react. I was not sure if I could pull myself together.

Anyway, I got to the church and it was filled with people who knew her and who had heard of her. As I approached the church, I was already battling with the huge lump in my throat, making sure that I could at least sit through the service. I managed to get inside, and then the ushers took me up-front to sit with the family.

I saw her mother and siblings who were weeping uncontrollably,so I tried to console them while battling with that same lump in my throat. I did all I could until the kids walked into the church with the nanny. Oh my goodness, now that lump has melted into liquid, the flood gates were flung open and the tears started gushing out. It was not a very pleasant sight as the choir leader could not continue the song.

This is to give you an insight into the kind of person my friend was and the life she lived.

She was extremely intelligent, kind, simple and most of all was in love with God and His word.

Well, as I tried to calm down, he walked in —THE HUSBAND.

I am sure by now you are thinking I would runto console him since I was very close to her and he knew me. Instead, I stood up and walked to the other sideof the church and sat down.

That was when I knew how much respect I had for the church and the dead.

If I could, I would have locked him up in the coffin so he could go with her; after all, he put her there in the firstplace.

We had all begged, prayed, complained, reported, and fought, just to get him to stop beating her. I was tired of seeing the black eye, the swollen face, the bruised arms and the constant headaches. It was so bad that I had totell him that one day he would do something really bad to his wife and end up behind bars.Little did I know that the day in question was fast approaching.

He had beaten her so much for sending her own money to her mother without telling him, and when she triedto protect herself by pushing him off her, he got infuriated and hit her head on the wall.

This time no black eye, no bruise to worry about, she just did not wake up.

When her sister called me in the middle of the night, I was not sure whether to cry or get angry or scream. My whole body was shaking and all I could say was “no… no… no… please God, no, no, no… please”.
I started to feel guilty, “maybe I should have moved her out of there”but then again who am I to move her out of her husband’s house when she herself refused to move. It really hurt, so much that even as I am writing this I am still crying.

The case was taken to court and was dismissed, because according to the courts the evidence was not enough, and so he was discharged and acquitted.

In a country where an accurate autopsy cannotbe carried out, let alone thoroughly investigate acrime, what do you expect?
She is dead and gone but the killer is walking free, and as usual, he has custody of the children whom he has passed on to his new wife.

My heart has been bleeding ever since because I know that this is happening to so many women. Some arestill alive today to tell their stories, some are afraid to cry out for help; some cover up when they are asked questions about their black eye; some believe that there is no justice for the abused woman because other cases they have heard of, havealways favoured the man, and lastly, some are no longer alive to speak up.

As sad as this is, it is stillhappening even as I write.Now it has progressed to acid baths, body mutilation, and other unthinkable things.

In anger, I stormed to the church we all attended and demanded to see the head pastor. When he came out, I screamed and yelled and people came into the church to hold me down.

Please, do not think I disrespectmen of God. Oh, far from it, in fact I respect them so much because without some of them who have mentored me, I would not be the person I am today.

Truth of the matter is, my late friend’s sister told me that a few days before she died, she hadgone to meet the pastorin fear because she had another fight with her husband who told her that he was ready to killher and nothing would happen to him. He kept saying in pidgin English:“na naija we dey o and when you die your deadbody no go come prove to the court say na me kill you”.

My late friend then called her sister to tell her what had happened and that she was going to see the pastor.

I asked her sister: “Why pastor? Why not police?”
The sister laughed and said: “Do you know howmany times she tried that? The policeman shemet on duty laughed and said, ‘madam na domestic matter be dis abeg, husband and wifemust fight, go beg your husband’ ”.
When her husband found out, he laughed and asked if she thought she was in America, then he beat her some more for evenattempting.

So, she went to the pastor and told him everything again because that was not the first time she went to him to complain and ask for help. As usual the pastor said: “My daughter, there is nothing God cannot do. Please, prayer is what you need. Keep praying to God to touch his heart, he will not kill you and he will not harm you.

Go back home and maintain peace, please; remember that God hates divorce so you cannot leave your home and children”. She left there feeling so dejected and scared, and so she called her sister and told her what the pastor had said.

I tried to think about what could have been going on in her head everyday of her life, thinking that there is noSAFE HAVEN. The man who swore to love and protect you is the one who is killing you; the parents who gave you to him in marriage will tell you not to leave your home because it is not a family trait and it will bring shame upon the family.

You are too ashamed to even let people know you are going through domestic violence for fear of being stigmatized; you are not protected by law enforcement agents northe law because some of them do the same thing to their wives; then the only place which is the house of God also tells you to go back to the place where you are being destroyed.

My heart broke and thatwas when I wept the most, because no one knows what she could have gone through alone.

So, I looked at this pastor and said ‘I hope you are happy now, I hope you are satisfied that she listened to you and got killed in the process’.

I am not saying I support separation or women running out of their homes, but I insist that there must be temporary measures to take the woman to a safe place until things can be resolved. She has to, at least, be alive first before any reconciliation or anything can even take place.

My question today is: what does the church do in cases like this? Is itsaying that because of doctrines women should remain there and die? Is it saying thatapart from prayer there is no other way to help?

I poured out my heart to the pastor and asked him a question directly without any apologies, “If your daughter came to you, bruised everyday, threatened and battered, would you tell her to go back there and pray? What if she does and gets killed? What would yourreaction be? Will you be able to live with yourself?”

Then I calmed down and said God bless you pastor and thank you, I hope this means she will go to heaven.

He could not utter a word, so I walked out.
Call this ranting, lamenting, disrespectful, but one thing is for sure. We need answers, we need to shout it out loud, we need to educate womenand let them know they can cry out for help.

“Brad didn’t realize that Angie was home, and so he basically just told Maddox the truth: that Jennifer was a woman he loved very much and was once married to,” said a source to the mag.“But that’s when Angelina walked in.”

UNEMPLOYMENT PALAVA: 34-YEAR-OLD GRADUATE GOES ON HUNGER STRIKE

A 34-year-old graduate, Mr. Oyeghe Bineabi Miederi, has embarked on an indefinite hunger strike to express his frustration for being unemployed six years after graduation, allegedly due to hearing impairment.

Oyeghe, who hails from Foropa community in Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa State, told reporters on Thursday inYenagoa that he was tired of living without a job six years after graduation.

He said, "The state government should give me an unconditional employment as a citizen of this state. Why should they continue to deny me job because of my hearing impairment. I will remain on hunger strike if nothing is done,” he said.

Oyeghe, who holds a B.A and Master’s degrees in Literature from the Niger Delta University and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria respectively, said that he was born with the defect, but added that it had never hindered his human capability.

He said he had attended numerous job interviews, both in government and private establishments, stressing, "But at the end they will deny me the job because I have hearing defect. It is really frustrating and I am tired."

“Only recently, I attended an interview during a government recruitment; after the exercise, people with third-class were offered employment, but I was denied an opportunity even with my second-class honours, just because I have a natural impairment in hearing.”

He called on the Bayelsa State government to give him a job, or better still, offer him scholarship to go for a doctorate degree programme, stressing that he may have to remain on hunger till the end.

“In a state like this, if you want to get a job, you either have a permanent secretary or know a politician. But fortunately, with my education, I am roaming about like a tout because of social injustice in the system,” he lamented.

Oyeghe, a father of one, called on the state government to do something urgently, adding that he had written over two literature books which had remained in manuscripts due to lack of funds.

My new movie

My new movie is titled, I will Take my Chances. The movie is about the African culture. It is about love and the beauty of dance.

I shot itin Lagos, Calabar and Uyo. I didn’t write it, I only produced it. The film will be shown in all the cinemas in the country this weekend. It will take a while before it will be released to the market on DVD.

challenges encounter?

The major challenge we had during the production ofthe film was moving from one city to another.It is a huge budget movie. In my opinion, the most difficult aspect of the movie was the part that concerned dance. I used to think I was a very good dancer until we started rehearsing. Then I realised that dancing can take another dimension altogether. I lost self confidence at a point. I didn’t think I could do it. It was really challenging. We had to rehearse from 11 am to 4 pm every day, except Sundays. Putting the fund together for the movie was challenging, too. I told you it is a huge budget movie. It is not true that my state government gave me N40m for the movie. The movie is my project and Emem Isong’s project as well.

Why I delved into movie production

It started with Memories of My Heart . I saw the script and I liked it. I decided to continue with it. You can get bored if you stick to one thing. I decided to do something different and I enjoyed it. So I decided to continue with it. I will continue producing movies, though it is not going to be regular. It is not as if it is going to be a one-off thing. I have done a third movie. We just finished shooting.

No regrets being an actress

I don’t regret being an actress. In fact, I feel I am actually blessed being in this profession. I love acting, despite the negative aspect that comes with it. I don’t think I would have loved to do another thing. But,sometimes, I am bothered by the things that are written about me, especially if they are not true. I have taken some legal steps before. That is the only way we can fight back.

In all, I intend to be an actress for a long time. Even if I am not acting, I will be in the movie business.

Marriage and acting

I have been able to hold on to my marriage. It depends on how you set your priorities and not get carried away by the whole thing. You should know when to be somewhere and when not to be in another place. I just create a balance between my career and my life. My husband is based in the United States of America,but we see each other al lthe time. He just left Nigeria in January. I will be in the US soon. It is either he is here or I am there. I don’t think I will quit acting. I might divert to other areas that have to do with the movies.

Talking about the scandals

my husband knows me more than any other person. Sometimes, when they say things about me, we are together at that moment. He will look at me and ask if I am the same person that people talk about. He knows what I can do.

How my career started

I was still in school when I attended an audition. I was doing a diploma programme in theatre arts before I went to get a degree in English. The audition was interesting. So, when I finished my two-year diploma programme, I went back to acting. I didn’t think I was ever going to get this big. But then, I am always optimistic and I think positively. Although I didn’t expect it, I knew I was going to be successful.

Parental support

My parents weren’t that supportive. It wasn’t what they wanted me todo. They wanted me to be a lawyer, which was what I wanted to be initially. My parents weren’t comfortable with it because I had to do a lot of travelling and it was affecting my education. But they accepted it later.

Rivalry among actresses

I always try to be on my own these days. I simply concentrate on my work.That is basically what I do.

AFRIFF scandal

I was in America at the time the African International Film Festival called for votes in the Best Female Actress category. I did not influence or rig the votes. I didn’t even know what was going on then. A few days before the whole drama started, a friend phoned me from Nigeria and asked me if I wasn’t aware of what was going on and that my colleagues, who were also contesting in that category, were canvassing votes. So I had to go to the social media and I started canvassing votes and I moved on. The next thing I heard was that I rigged the votes. On my Facebook page, I have well over 30,000 friends and I canvassed votes. I felt bad when people started saying that I influenced the votes. It was an unpleasant accusation and I felt really bad.

My relationship with RitaDominic

You said you heard that a colleague of mine started the rumour that I rigged votes. Well, I am not going to talk about it. I have nothing to say to that. And it did not affect my relationship with Rita Dominic. Why should it?

My vision

I want to leave a mark behind. I want to be able to make films that people will be proud of. I want to make movies that can compete anywhere in the world. I want to move my foundation a step forward. I want to have children. I need a platform where I can do what I have always wanted to do. I have always been into charity work.

TRAGEDY! 38-YEAR- OLD MAN COMMIT SUICIDE

The sudden death of a popular hunter and blacksmith via suicide onFeb 11, 2012, in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, appears to have plungedmany residents of the area of the city he lived into grief.

It was gathered that at about 6.30am on that day, Alamu Olajire, 38, who lived in Bakatariin the Omi-Adio area of the city, allegedly pickedup his hunting gun, rodeon a commercial motorcycle to an uncompleted house on Condemned Road, not far from his own residence, and shot himself in the chest.

Olajire was said to have removed some charms, which he had always worn underneath his clothes, before shooting himself to death.

The gunshots had reportedly drawn the attention of other people living in the neighbourhood to the scene of the action and they had found lifeless body of the hunter in a pool of his own blood.

Strangely enough, Olajire was said to have made some disturbing comments a few days before the incident.

Sources told our correspondent that the late hunter did actually predict his own death in a dramatic and terrible manner that would rattle every member of the community.

True to his words, the man ended up taking hisown life in a way that really baffled his relatives, friends and neighbours alike. The act had shocked members of the community so much thatthey had wondered what could have made him commit suicide.

A 38-year-old woman, Monica Edosa residing in Edo State has been arraigned before a customary court sitting in Idogbo area for allegedly biting of her neighbour's nose.

The prosecutor, Benson Agu, said the accused had, on the 16th of October, 2011, at Osaiwede Street,Upper Sakponba Road, Benin, bitten off part of Joy Okunrobo’s nose during a ‘fight’.

not guilty to the charges, the prosecutor applied for an adjournment to enable both parties resolve the case out of court.

This was because the father of the victim, Roland Osakue had pleaded with the husband of the accused, Okunrobo Edosa, for out-of-court settlement.

After listening to the submissions of all the parties, the judge, Esther Eweka, granted bail to the accused in the sum ofN50,000 with one surety in like sum. She then adjourned the case till 15November for further briefing on the progress of the out of court settlement...

WORLD BANK ASSISTED NIGERIA WITH $500M LOAN TO COMBAT GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS

The World Bank extended a loan of$500 million for support to Nigeria during the global financial crisis.

This fact is containedin the just released Independent Evaluation Group report of the World Bank.

According to the Bank “Nigeria faced serious fiscal issues at the onset ofthe crisis and the funds were given to Nigeria in the form of budgetary support to the government, for undertaking policy reforms, both in the areas of fiscal management and financial sector reform.

In terms of the content of policy reforms, there were some positive areas, however some otherlonger term opportunities for reform may not havebeen seized and overall, the programme was moderately satisfactory in terms of its achievements.”

MAN KILL FOR REFUSING TO GIVE POLICE N50

In the morning of Thursday, February 2, Edwin Eze, a 38-year-old coaster bus driver, rose to go to work. Eze, who hailed from Nachi in Enugu State, told his sick wife, Mary, who was carrying a seven-month pregnancy, that he would be back soon to take her to the hospital.

Unfortunately, he never came home alive.

At about 11am, Mary was informed that Edwin wasdead. She screamed but the deed was done. Edwin was allegedly murdered by a trigger-happy policeman. The incident happened at a checkpoint near Dennis Memorial Grammar School, DMGS, Onitsha.

Daily Sun gathered that Samuel Ojana, a corporal attached to the Onitsha Police Mobile Force (PMF) 52, had shot the deceased after the latter refused to give him N50. The mayhem that followed the action couldhave set Onitsha and its environs ablaze but for the prompt intervention of the Anambra State Police Command.

Following the death of the family’s breadwinner, things have gone sour for the 30-year-old pregnant widow, her three kids and four other children, living with her. Right now, the family is crying for help.

When Daily Sun visited the Ezes, sympathisers and other well-wishers were trooping in and outof their home. They cameto console Mary after her husband’s life was cut short by a reckless policeman. Some f the visitors were wailing andweeping.

Uncontrollable streams of tears flowed down their cheeks.

According to the police, the killer cop had since been dismissed from the force after an orderly room trial. He’s being remanded in prison but people, who spoke to our reporter, said the enormous devastations he had caused the family of the late Edwin were yet to manifest.

Speaking on the incident, Mary recalled that her husband had been without a job for some time before his tragic end. She stated that she and her childrenhad been going through hell since the incident happened.

She said she did not haveany premonition that anything was going to happen to her husband, who had promised early that morning to take her to the hospital after few trips.

“When he was leaving home that morning, he promised to return homeby 11 am after a few trips. He was to take me to the hospital because I was sick. I waited for himfor some time; when my patience was running out, I decided to sleep but unfortunately, I noticed I was very restless. Initially, I thought it was because of my illness.

Before then, a woman had told me that a policeman shotsomeone inside Onitsha but little did I know that it was my husband.

“Later, another woman, who is our neigbour, came to inform me that the person shot by the police was my husband and that he died on the spot. Initially, I thought she was joking but gradually, it dawned on me that the woman was telling the truth.

I became more worried when people began to troop into our home to console me. Instantly, I fainted and hit my face on the chair in our home.That is why I’m having bleary eyes.”

Mrs. Eze restated that her husband had stayed without driving a bus forsome time. He finally secured the coaster bus he was driving before hemet his untimely death towards the end of last January.
“My husband has been staying as an applicant long before he was killed. He just secured thebus he was driving at theend of January.

He was not the owner of the bus.He was driving it for someone else. I’m begging the public to help me because I can’t carry this heavy load alone,” she cried.

She also called on the Federal Government as well as the governors of Enugu and Anambra States and the leadershipof the Nigeria Police to assist the family.

“We have three children and I’m expecting another baby any moment from now. We have other children staying with us because my husband wasthe breadwinner of his family. His sister’s children are living with us and as it stands now, if there is no help comingour way, my children andthose of my late husband’s sister will not continue with their education,” she sobbed.

In a rare case of magnanimity, she called on the police authorities to set her husband’s killer free. “Everything is in God’s hands; He is the ultimate Judge. Let them set him free. It is up to God to treat him the way he pleases.”

Daily Sun learnt that the deceased’s three children, Oluebube, 8; Obinna, 6 and Ikenna Eze,4, are facing the prospectof being sent out of school if no help comes their way.

Oluebube, a primary one pupil of Shining Stars Nursery and Primary School, Awada, might nothave known the full effect of her father’s death.

She told Daily Sun that she did not know where her father went tosince the day of the incident. She said: “I don’t know where my daddy is; I have been calling him to come back home but he won’t answer.”

HARD DRUGS MANUFACTURE, THREAT TO PEACE AND SECURITY –NDLEA BOSS •3 SUSPECTED BOLIVIANS TO BE TRIED BEFORE DEPORTATION

A year after a drug manufacturing laboratory was discovered in Iba area of Ojo, Lagos, by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA),another one has been uncovered in Daily Times Estate, Satellite Town, also in Lagos. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), describedthe development as threat to societal peace and security.

The operation, which led to the latest discovery was carried out on February 3, 2012, by operatives of the Lagos State Command.

Unlike the first discovery in 2011, where only Nigerians were arrested, the recent one involved three foreign nationals and some Nigerians.

The suspected foreigners from Bolivia are , Yerko Artunduaga Dorado, 19, Ruben Ticona Jorge, 21, and Hugo Chavez Moreno, 39.
Two persons, Solomon Uzoka and Basil Uzoka, were said to be at large.

The fourth suspect is a 23-year-old Uba Collins. The anti-narcotic agents also recovered 41.150 kilogramme of ephedrine, 4.8kg of Methamphetamine , other chemical and sundry gadgets used in the laboratory. Three vehicles, a Honda Accord ,a Honda CRV and a Toyota 4 Runners(SUV), were also impounded by the operatives.

Two buildings used to perpetrated the criminal act have also been sealedoff by the Agency.

According to the Chairman and Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, there are indications that the drug was meant for export. Hedisclosed that the effects of methamphetamine abuse could be dangerous and horrifying. He said: “

When injected or smoked, it immediately produces an intensely pleasurable sensation, known as a ‘rush of a ‘flash’, by releasing high levels of dopamine in thebrain.”

Small amount of methamphetamine couldcause increased wakefulness, decreased appetite, irregular heart beat and cardiovascular collapse. On the other hand, chronic use of the substance could result in violent behaviour, psychotic behaviour, auditory hallucinations, mood disturbances, delusions and homicidal or suicidal thoughts.

The NDLEA boss further disclosed that the drug could lead to weak bonesand tooth decay, a situation referred to as ‘meth mouth’, while withdrawal from it by addicts, results in both physical and psychological symptoms, like shaking, depression, fearfulness and extreme craving for the drug.

He also explained that the production process, adopted by the clandestine laboratory is crude and dangerous.

“The process emits phosphine, a lethal gas that kills instantly, when inhaled. Given the crude production process, residential buildings also exposes both the workers and innocent neighbours to great health danger.”
“Clandestine laboratoriesconstitute a threat to societal peace and security. Besides the environmental pollution, gullible and unemployed youths are being used to smuggle these drugs to countries with high demand. Several methamphetamine traffickers have been caught at the airport andland borders,” he said.

Giade urged members of the public to be on the alert and report any suspicious persons or buildings to the Agency.

He said: “It is important to stress that such building(s) are not safe for habitation. A house used for the illicit production of methamphetamine is simply a death trap. Tenants moving into newbuilding are hereby advised to carry out discreet investigations on the previous occupants. Still on the harmful effects of the drug , Giade said unprotected exposure to the chemicals could cause headache, watery or burning eyes, burning skins, coughing or choking feeling, weakness and dizziness.

According to him, methamphetamine is a powerful addictive stimulant, which dramatically affects the central nervous system.

Itis produced, using precursor chemicals.
He said: “If you find or suspect any building, think safety and get away from the area immediately. Clandestine laboratories are never safe. Do not taste, touch or smell any chemical or equipment. Never attempt to stop the chemical reaction. Do notsmoke, use tools, radios, cell phones, torches or devices that produce sparks to avoid explosion.”

He disclosed that the suspects arrested last year over similar offence have been charged to court but were granted bail, adding that the Bolivians would also be charged and if convicted,would serve their jail terms before deportation.

The NDLEA boss, however,commended the cooperation among all the security agents in thefight against illicit drugs.
